It is built from an MDF frame with pine and multilayer board in an oak colour finish, with rattan-effect panelling on the headboard and footboard. The headboard stands 100cm high and the footboard 46cm, and the mattress (sold separately) sit on 30 multilayer board slats.

The base lifts on gas struts from the foot end to open a full-length storage compartment measuring H23cm x W139cm x L192cm on the double and H23cm x W152cm x L202cm on the king. That's the whole footprint of the bed, so spare duvets, pillows, winter bedding and suitcases go underneath instead of filling a wardrobe. The gas struts take the weight of the base and mattress, so it rises with one hand and stays open while you load it, and lifting from the end means you can reach the whole compartment without leaning across the bed. The 30-slat base spreads weight evenly and supports a maximum user weight of 300kg. The frame sits flush to the floor, so all of the storage is inside the ottoman and nothing slides under the bed.

The Monica Wooden Rattan Gas Lift Ottoman Bed is a stand-alone piece, available at Big Furniture Warehouse in Double and King sizes. Its oak tones and rattan-effect detail sit well alongside our Astbury range. It suits a main bedroom, a guest room or a natural-toned scheme, and the built-in storage makes it a strong choice where there's no room for a blanket box or a second chest of drawers. It is less suited to a room where the foot of the bed sits close to a wall, radiator or furniture, because the gas lift base needs clear space in front to rise fully.

Assembly required - fixings and instructions included; two people are recommended and only a screwdriver is needed.

Mattress not included.

Maximum user weight capacity 300kg.

The gas lift base opens from the foot end and needs clear space in front to lift fully.

FAQ's

How much storage is inside the Monica ottoman bed?

The storage runs the full size of the bed: L192cm x W139cm x H23cm on the double and L202cm x W152cm x H23cm on the king.
